first question to answer-- do we want to try mind control? If so, i'll need to bring some glyphs to swap in.

looks like our biggest issue is going to be staying out of blizzard while avoiding chaining lightning to melee.

I'd really like to give this a shot on Hard mode. Trinket that has a chance to drop would be a great addition to my ArP gearing goal. From reading it sounds like one of the easier hard modes to do as well. Also drops a nice DPS caster neck and caster trinket.

I'm in the same boat as Furah. But, I was quietly waiting for the achievement we got tonight since Lightning Cone is a one-shot in hard mode and every raid before now we've had someone eat it (28,000 damage without Touch of Dominion: http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=62565), so I am considering at the very least seeing how the fight goes next week.

A few other notes, mostly for myself

Thorim HP will be: 2,634,654.75 * 130% -> ~3,763,792.5 via Stasis parse, WoWhead says 4,183,500 for 10 man? (pre touch? out of date? unsure)

Below two lines based on hardest hit with 6 lightning strike buffs up on Thorim:
Melee swings topend will be ~6,000 * 140% = 8,400/swing
Unbalancing strike topend (1 hit on Zy that high) will be 10221 * 140% = 14,309.4

Meaning tanks will need to be over 50% HP whenever a strike is imminent near the end of the fight (see next line), else a strike+melee will instagib a tank. Taunts on Unbalancing strike will need to be immediate or a crit may be a one-shot

Chain lightning
Assuming ~24,000RDPS (maybe 20% too high, assuming with 3 healers?), this will be a 156.82 second [2.6 minute] fight on just Thorim part, meaning ~6-7 lightning charges, hits coming in at 90% faster than time 0, chain lightning hitting for ~8806/17k with 0/1 jumps, before resists ( 3700 base * 140% no Touch * 160% 6 charges )

+Sif's Frostbolt volley and Blizzard. FR aura + NR aura will be mandatory (FR gear on tanks? Good stam boost)

I think it will definitely be a 3 healer fight, which I wonder if we can do without the Arena getting overloaded, and the hall done in under 3 mins... hm..I think it'll be the hardest hard mode we've attempted so far with nearly perfect execution. We'll have to see.

Also, mind controlling for Aura of Celerity? is 20% additional raid haste worth losing a slot for 10 man? I have my doubts.

Blizzard may be a complete non-issue however, if that positioning is accurate.

EDIT: folks are saying as high as 11-12 stacks for Lightning Charge, so I may have wildly underestimated incoming raid damage. There may've been an HP nerf to thorim though, I don't recall.
