Shadow resist seems ideal, since the only non shadow damage is the phys damage to the tanks.

It's a question of relative benefit in a dps race. The first few deaths in the last 2 pulls are coverage drops. An additional 10% resistance will increase lifespan without healing by at most 1-2 seconds. And the coverage drops leading to death are generally 5-10 seconds of no heals at all.

If we can resolve that coverage drop - whether that's due to raid setup, movement/range, or overlap - the damage appeared to be manageable at the level of incoming we were experiencing. But maybe that's inaccurate. If the coverage drop is actually simply a direct result of incoming damage (i.e. it's too much to handle, and the deaths were GCD conflicts with someone else staying alive), then it makes a ton of sense to increase the healing timeframe margin through shadow resist.

Regarding the range deal, it's generally pretty straightforward for melee, since we're kinda limited in our options. But perhaps a raid marker for who they're supposed to be kinda close to (but not too close) would assist the ranged dps. The only person I've seen or heard talking about range issues on ranged dps is, by my understanding, not actually in charge of healing ranged dps.

I really like their positioning in this video. I think we were going for something like this anyway, but a nice visual.

True, but she's also kinda hot in that Mrs. Claus outfit. Wait... a girl on the interwebs posing in suggestive attire to get attention from nerds.... I'VE BEEN HAD
